Paintings in Watercolour
and Acrylic on Paper
The topic of the pictures on this year is LIGHT. In the watercolours, I mixed fairly large amounts of water with the paint to make them more luminous. Sometimes I added white gouache paint in order to lighten the tones. The use of water-soluble colour pencils may change the colour or add definition to some contours.
The acrylic pictures were painted on sand paper. Its rough surface makes the colours appear crisp and seem to shimmer. The first layer of paint has to be applied with a palette knife because, if you use a brush, the brush would sweep away the "sand" particles. Once the paint is dry, subsequent layers can be applied by brush.
All these paintings are abstract although you may find associations with the real world, often land or skyscapes, in them.

Paintings in Watercolour
and Acrylic on Paper
This section contains both watercolours and paintings in acrylic or acrylic gouache which has a thinner consistency than acrylic paint. Its pigments are very bright and saturated, particularly when only a small amount of water is added. Mixed with more water, it becomes transparent like watercolour. All my watercolours are abstract although you may find associations with the real world, often landscapes, in them.
